Non-Proprietary -- CopyLeft, Patent Free, Transparent
Neda's Public Non-Proprietary Policy Statements
As a For Profit company, for what we are trying to accomplish and based on the nature of our domain, we reject much of the so called Intelectual Property regime. In particular the branches of Copyright and Patents.
To be lawfully and businesswise sound we have adopted the following policies:
Neda CopyLeft Policy
This policy statement only applies to software developed by Neda for Neda for Neda Services and Products.
It does not apply to software developed by Neda as work for hire.
We believe in the Free Software philosophy and our licenses are generally aligned with GNU Licenses
as described at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/ part of which is reproduced below.
Licenses
Published software should be free software. To make it free software, you need to release it under a free software license. We normally use the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL), but occasionally we use other free software licenses. We use only licenses that are compatible with the GNU GPL for GNU software.
Documentation for free software should be free documentation, so that people can redistribute it and improve it along with the software it describes. To make it free documentation, you need to release it under a free documentation license. We normally use the GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL), but occasionally we use other free documentation licenses.
Neda Patent Free Policy
No Software Patent Assertions
Neda will never obtain a patent for the purpose of general assertion.
